People are always trying to influence others beliefs, Xavier thought as he walked around the town in its very self-righteous, activist state that it was in. There was a constant hustle and bustle of what should be done to solve this problem or how we can improve that situation. By the time Xavier reached one of his usual spots in the field by the parking lot, there was what looked to be some sort of campgrounds that had opened up. For some strange reason there was a lunatic with a megaphone hollerin' about the 'financial crisis' and the countries 'economic turmoil'. All that Xavier wanted to do was catch a quick morning nap after his rough time the previous night. "Well Shit" Xavier said and headed to get his free flu shot from the local clinic
"VACCINATIONS CEASED UNDER CITY ORDER", read the sign on the front of the clinic. Xavier did not know what to make of this and simply said, "Well Shit". The day was off to a not so pleasant start, (as excited as he was about his flu shot), two of the very few and seldom activities that Xavier planned were not going to happen. He came to the decision to just stroll around the streets for a bit. Perhaps his friend has returned home finally.
After another unsuccessful attempt to do something Xavier left his friends empty apartment and took to the one thing that he had been looking forward to for quite awhile now. He briskly walked over to the old Roller Skating Rink for the party. Although he may have looked a tad out of place at the rink and the block party, with nearly 20 or so years on most of the people there, if one knew Xavier they would easily be able to tell he belonged as he grooved to the music of Deadmau5 and even a little Excision. Since Ray's Liquor was conveniently across the street, Xavier went and bought himself a little something to drink, to keep him warm of course.
On the stumbling path home, Xavier passed several homes that seemed to be abandoned. The lights in one of the houses were constantly turning on and off. There seemed to be figures moving around inside. There was a ton of stuff on the curb. Everything from an old white couch with a very dark stain on it, to some left over ham or turkey, maybe it was chicken. Well it was some kind of meat anyhow. There was a scream from inside the house and Xavier rushed towards the door. He gave it a solid knock and it swung open to reveal nothing. The house was completely barren. The lights didn't even work and there were definitely not any people inside. "That's strange", Xavier thought as he walked back to get one of the coach cushions to sleep on for the night as he thought himself not fit for the walk home if he happens to be hallucinating like that.

Very Bad, Very Bad
It's been a little chilly lately and today it feels as if it is in the 50's. For some reason Xavier does not own a coat and heads across the poplar/brownstone intersection towards the church to see if they have any jackets in the lost and found.
After securing himself a jacket Xavier strolls over to the coffee shop where there are several people standing outside. Xavier approaches a very shy looking girl holding a camera and asks what the hubbub was about. She gave him a very puzzled look and said "didn't you hear, there was..." But before she could finish her sentence, a loud grinding arose from behind the two. Xavier turned around to see a bus trying to make the corner onto poplar however there was obviously something wrong with the engine as the bus sputtered to a stop. A few cars honked and slowly crept by, eyeing the bizarre scene outside the coffee shop.
Xavier attempts to talk to the detective about all the commotion in order to get a better understanding of the situation and maybe even help. His efforts are for naught as the detective and some man are in heavy discussion and pay Xavier no mind.
Since he clearly isn't going to get any coffee at the so-called 24 hour coffee shop he starts to walk down to Casa De Waffles where he heard they may have a special today.
Xavier arrives at Casa De Waffles around 7:45 am and is too late for the special. luckily the kitchen staff made an excess amount of waffles for the special and are now just giving them away. Naturally Xavier takes about 6 or 7 and continues to devour them. He overhears the waitresses discussing something about the coffee shop and how the owner was the first one in Casa De Waffles this morning for the special.
Xavier heads outside to an immediate headache of noise from car horns, dogs barking, and even people barking. He quickly retreats back to the warm comforting waffles.

yep...
Xavier gives the door a hard pull as he turns the key. He looks at the crooked 19 in great satisfaction as it hangs on the door of his temporary apartment. The apartment was on 'loan' from a friend who was kind enough to let Xavier use it while he was out of town. This kept him off the unforgiving streets for at least a week. That being however, Xavier found comfort in the streets and still spent most of his time there. Xavier headed over towards the lake to admire the silents beauty of the rippling water. On his way he passes the theater, which currently is playing host to a modernized version of Oedipus Rex. The posters read something Xavier discovered to be rather profound, "What will come will come. Even if I shroud it all in silence". Xavier contemplated this as he casually strolled along his way. He had always lived his life as best as was easy and wondered if he lost what he might have had due to ignorance or if what happens happens.
There are many people about at the park. A couple near the water having a picnic. "How cliche" Xavier thought as he envied the two young lovers. A family is playing soccer, just kicking it around. They looked more cheerful than anyone Xavier had seen in a long time. There is a man lying beneath the shade of one of the trees listening to music, of what sort Xavier can only imagine. There is a nice breeze causing the water on the lake to glimmer peacefully in the warm sun. Xavier sits and reflects on many things concerning his plans for the afternoon and the plans he had for his life that have now seemingly faltered.
Around 9 or maybe even 10, Xavier head over to the Waffle joint where he can always count on a hot cup of coffee free of charge. He strolled in to the place to the mellow sounds of R.E.M. whose song fit Xavier's somber mood of the day so far. He gets a cup of coffee and a chocolate chip waffle in hopes of cheering up and heads back out into the dusk lit street.

Everything starts somewhere
The day started with Xavier eating his stale bread. The ever-present green mold growing in the breads corners as he sat alone at the end of the table in the shabby 'dining hall'. He ate this same meal at least 3 times a week. A piece of bread, usually with less mold than without thankfully, and some sort of soup or stew. However, at least once a week, normally on Sundays, he would go to St. Magdalene's and partake in the evening supper that was held and offered for free to people like Xavier. It was getting to be 2 o'clock and he had yet to do anything with his day but eat. This was usually the case. After finishing up lunch Xavier left SK to see what could be scraped up for the day. He sat outside of Old Johnny's for about an hour and made $4.87.
A few hours later Xavier took an unusual stroll through the more fortunate part of town. Xavier was never a very materialistic man, however, at the sight of some of the buildings and houses of the area, he began to imagine himself inside. Seated at a nice oak dining room set. The smell of a home cooked meal sifting through his nostrils as he sits in the sturdy chair and sees the smiling faces of his close family that he now wishes he still had.
Eventually Xavier makes it back downtown and goes to see his friend who lives in castle apartments. Xavier looks up at the renaissance-esque designs on the eaves of the building, embellishing the building to look much more lavish than it really is. As an on and off tenant, Xavier knows the trials that these intrepid apartments can present and hurries inside before the doorman begins to fuss in his lighthearted way he tends to do with Xavier.
While sipping the traditional Afghan tea that Xavier receives every time he visit, he notices a peculiar new painting hanging on the wall. The painting itself is well sized. Approximately 5 feet by 3 feet, it is hung with no frame but just the canvas. The mostly dark colors of the painting contrast greatly with the rest of the light colored, mostly white apartment. In the painting there is a figure, one cannot tell if it is a man or a woman. They are facing the opposite direction towards what may or may not be the moon. The swirls of a dark yellow mixed with an off white suggest the moon as such.
Xavier walks to the park and feeds the many geese and ducks that reside there during these late summer months, the pond itself is its usual murky blue-green with a few water living plants amongst the gentle waves. It seems a bit dryer than usual, as it has not rained in weeks. Xavier takes a seat on a bench and quickly drifts to sleep.
